Amritsar, December 14, 2017: Former Majha Zone President of AAP Kanwalpreet Singh Kaki joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in the presence of its president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Another former Backward Caste wing head of AAP Manmohan Singh Bhagowalia also joined the SAD along with his supporters on the occasion.
Both leader and their associates had left AAP before Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll, the result of which was declared on October 15, 2017.
Welcoming both and their 43 associates, Sukhbir Badal said AAP was all but finished in the Majha region with this joining. "You will see AAP going down across the State in the next fifteen days", he said adding the competition in the municipal elections was between the Congress and SAD-BJP combine.
The erosion of AAP's base was evident from the fact that it failed to put up candidates in Bholath constituency represented by Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Khaira, he added.
Senior leaders who joined SAD today along with Kaki include Gurjinder Singh Sohal,ex block president Dhariwal, Rupinder Singh, ex block president Kahnuwan, Gurvinder Bedi, ex city president Dhariwal, Gurpartap Randhawa, ex district president Kisan wing and Pawandeep Singh, ex Vice President Gurdaspur along with a number of sarpanches.
Senior leaders joining SAD along with Manmohan Bhagowalia included BC wing office bearers - Nirmal Sinigh Minister, ex president Malwa zone, Balbir Singh Pahra, ex general secretary, Narinder Singh Manni, ex district president, Gurdaspur, Dr Maluk Singh, ex Vice President Moga, Varinder Singh, ex president Ludhiana, Paramjit Singh, ex district chairman Jalandhar, Santokh Singh, ex general secretary Jalandhar besides others.
Senior SAD leaders Bikram Singh Majithia and Batala legislator Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal were also present on the occasion.
