Congress sweeps Patiala, Ghagga, Ghanaur municipal polls, re-poll in one Patiala booth
Patiala, December 17, 2017: Congress emerged winner in one-sided contest in Patiala Municipal Corporation, the home city of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
Its candidates also won absolute majority in the wards of Ghagga, and Ghanaur Nagar Panchayats of the district.
As per official results, Congress wrested 59 wards out of total 60 of Patiala MC. The results of Ward number 37 was put on hold as the State Election Commission ordered re-polling in one of its booths due to some EVM glitches.
In Ghanaur, Congress candidates won in 10 and BJP in one ward whereas the Congress tally was 8 in Ghagga. Here, the BJP won in two, Akali in one and Independents in two wards.
Patiala registered 62.22, Ghagga 90 and Ghanaur 80.6 percent polling.
