Shahrukh Khan contributes Rs 5 lakh as aid for ailing Sangrur boxer
Sangrur, December 18, 2017: Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan has sent Rs 5 lakh aid for ailing former national champion boxer Kaur Singh (69) to meet his medical treatment expenses.
Kaur Singh confirmed having received the money deposited in his bank account by Shahrukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Foundation.
He won gold medal for the country at 1982 Asian Games and now lives in a small house at village Ghunal Khurd in Sangrur district.
Visibly delighted over the gesture, he thanked the Bollywood celebrity and other who have chipped in with generous financial aid to help him meet his medical expenses.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also announced aid of Rs 2 lakh for him after learning about his plight from media reports. The cheque was handed to him by Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur last Wednesday,
For the treatment of a serious ailment, this former champion boxer incurs about Rs 8000 a month on treatment. He was recently discharged from a private hospital in Mohali.
