AITF members after meeting to discuss strategy ahead of meeting with ministers at Chandigrh
No assurances, issue orders, says industry ahead of meeting with ministers on power tariff

Ludhiana, December 18, 2017: All Industries and TRADE Forum (AITF), an umbrella organization of various industry bodies of the state on Monday decided to stick to their decision of proposed chain hunger strike if the meeting with senior ministers on Tuesday at Chandigarh failed to yield any result on industry’s demands including power tariff issue.
Consequent to the government invite for discussions with Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh and Finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal , the AITF convened a hurriedly called meeting of its members to chalk out strategy to be adopted during their meeting with ministers at Chandigarh on Tuesday.
The AITF meeting was held under leadership of Inderjit Singh Navyug, president United Cycle and Parts Manufacturing Association (UCPMA) here on Monday.
It was decided during the meeting that the AITF call for hunger strike on December 21 would not be withdrawn if the proposed Chandigarh meeting on Tuesday being convened on the express orders of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh failed to offer any concrete solution to the industry’s demands.
The AITF decided that the government side would be asked to issue immediate orders on implementation of their tree major demands of doing away with retrospective payment of revised power tariff, two part tariff system and issuing notification of Rs 5/unit tariff as promised in the poll manifesto of the ruling Congress.
Those present in the AITF meeting included Avtar Sngh Bhogal, Charanjit Singh Vishavkarma, Badish Jinda, KK Garg, Manjt Singh Matharoo, Dev Gupta, Kuwant Singh NKH, SC Rahlon, Rajkumar Singla, Jagbir Singh Sokhi, Rajinder Singh Pappu, Rajinder Singh Sarhali, Achhru Ram Gupta and others.
