Bathinda, January 16, 2018: Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda, Diparva Lakra informed that the Punjab government has decided to provide special chance to eligible applicants of academic year 2017-18 to apply for post-matric scholarship schemes on Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship Portal from January 22 to 25.
Lakra said that the special chance has been given to those candidates who had failed to get themselves registered online on the portal of Welfare Department, Punjab in the previous set schedule. The portal has now been reopened for all the concerned sectors including applicant students, educational institutions, sanctioning authorities and line department, he added.
Some candidates had failed to get themselves registered for the scholarship schemes on the web-portal of the Punjab government due to the mismatch of the particulars of their respective Adhaar cards and other supporting documents.

The eligible students can upload the scanned copy of admit or registration card issued by Board/University for current academic year or scanned copy of result of semester, along with attendance sheet attested by the head of concerned institution.
The terms and conditions of the scheme will remain same as earlier and MBBS and BDS students were not eligible to apply for the scheme.
The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the reserved category students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.
Meanwhile, District Welfare Officer, Sardool Singh Sidhu said that the special chance has been given by the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Backward Classes (BC), Punjab for the central post-matric scholarship scheme being offered under Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship Portal
