Chandigarh, February 22, 2018: Highly courageous and alert staff of Forest Department, Chandigarh unearthed the body of newly born girl child from the forest area of Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. The men in SUVs came to Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh late in the evening of Wednesday and dig a grave and buried a newly born female child. The men in SUVs threatened the staff of the Forest Department Ajay Kumar and Sagar to kill them but in spite of all odds the staff informed the police and Chandigarh police acted promptly and located the grave and dug out the body from forest near the choe. In a press release Santosh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest informed that the unknown fellows who were digging a pit in lake forest near the choe for burying a dead body, but due to alertness shown by our staff members namely; .Ajay Kumar, Supervisor and Sagar, Watcher, both posted at Nature Interpretation Centre of Regulator End of Sukhna Lake and in spite of threats to kill by miscreants, they immediately alerted the police and helped the police in nabbing the culprits. The staff has shown their dedication in performing their duty and due to their alertness, Santosh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, UT Chandigarh has given appreciation letters to them for showing such courageous step.
Santosh Kumar, IFS further informed that such appreciation to employees, will definitely be encouragement for all those employees who are also involved in protection and preservation of Forests and Environment.
Forest Department, UT Chandigarh has also requested to Chandigarh police to register a case for taking action against the culprits for alleged offences under Indian Forest Act also.
