President Pranab Mukherjee confers Malti Gyan Peeth Purskar
Chandigarh, May 29, 2016: It is a pride moment for the Education Department, Punjab as President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee today conferred 'Malti Gyan Peeth Purskar' upon the 15 teachers of the state for their rare contribution in the field of Education. During this occasion Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, and Rural Development and Panchayat, Minister, Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka was also present. The function was organized in the Rashtarpati Bhawan, New Delhi.
During the award ceremony Dr. Cheema said that the award bestowed upon these teachers was the recognition of marvelous services they rendered in the field of education. He said that these teachers really deserve a pat for this rare achievement. "I hope that this award will inspire more teachers to impart the services in more dedicated manner".
He said that Punjab Government has constantly been making efforts to ensure the quality education and the efforts of the government has clearly reflected in result declared this year for the 10th and +2 standards. He said that this year government school has surpassed the private schools in overall performance and pass percentage. He said that to further boost the morale of the teaching faculty of the government school, the state government has decided to launch lifetime achievement awards for the government teachers in male and female category.
It is pertinent to mention here that 'Malti Gyan Peeth Purskar' award is given every year by a NGO ‘M S Single Education and Research Society’ to the teachers of the government school. These teachers are awarded with a cash price of Rs one lakh. Dr Cheema also thanked Mr Manoj Single of NGO for encouraging teachers of Punjab. Dr. G Vijralingam, IAS, Principal Secretary, School Education and Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol DGSE cum DPI were also present on this occasion.
