DC appealed the NGOs to register maximum number of people as DAPO

People aged above 18 years of age should enroll themselves as Drug Abuse Prevention Officers (DAPO) under the special campaign of Punjab government for eliminating drugs from society. The volunteers should work in complete spirit and with great zeal to make their society drug free and contribute towards this cause with all their might.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vipul Ujwal said this while presiding over a meeting of all departments convened at the district administrative complex today.
Speaking at the event, he said that the main motive of this program is to create awareness against the drugs and work towards rehabilitation of the addicts. Besides registering on the websitewww.ppsaanjh.gov.in, people can also give their applications at the nearest Saanjh Kendras in police stations. He added that March 23 is being celebrated as the Youth Empowerment Day under which district, sub division and village level oath taking ceremonies will be organized. The Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will kick start the campaign from Shaheed Bhagat Singh's village Khatkar Kalan on March 23. The entire ceremony will be beamed live from Khatkar Kalan to different parts of the state.
He appealed the NGOs to register maximum number of people as DAPO volunteers. He added that if a DAPO volunteer comes across any drug addict, he or she should coordinate with the district administration and work for treatment of the addicts.
