PO with militant links arrested after 27 years
Kapurthala, March 19, 2018: The district police on Monday arrested a Proclaimed Offender (PO) allegedly linked with Sikh militant outfits and evading arrest for the last 27 years.
As per Hindustan Times report, SSP Kapurthala Sandeep Sharma said the PO identified as Ranjit Singh Rana of village Jangpur Jattan, Jalandhar district had links with Khalistan Commando Force and Babbar Khalsa.
He was arrested from village Kohar Kalan, Jalandhar district and was wanted in multiple cases of murder. He had been working as ‘granthi’ at a gurdwara.
Interestingly, he was dead in the eyes of the villagers who told the police that his ‘bhog’ had also been performed about two decades ago, said the HT report quoting the SSP as saying.
He had been jailed for two years in 1997 after conviction in a case. Acquited in two cases, he had been facing trial in two other cases.
