Nayan Bhullar fast tracks campaign for DAPO
Kapurthala: 19 March, 2018 (Amrit Brar) SDM Kapurthala Nayan Bhullar convenes meeting to fast track the campaign for registration of Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) in the city. She appealed to the NGOs and other officials to join hands to enrol maximum number of youth as volunteers in this campaign by motivating them for enrolment as Drug Abuse Prevention Officers (DAPOs).
Presiding over the meeting on Friday, Nayan Bhullar told that the Punjab Government has launched the Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) Program in which any person above the age of 18 years and who is not a convict in a criminal case or accused in any NDPS Act, 1985 case, can get himself enrolled as a DAPO. This program is purely voluntary and completely honorary, and no remuneration will be paid, she added.
Nayan Bhullar said that it was the appropriate time that the youth must enrolled themselves as DAPO and play an important role in wiping out this blot from the society. She said that DAPOs would play an important role in raising awareness against drug abuse, identification of users and weak sections besides motivating the drug users and their families to avail treatment facilities.
