Dedicated portal launched by NCERT to facilitate supply of books to CBSE affiliated schools
New Delhi, March 23, 2018: National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is ready to supply the required number of textbooks to all Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools for the academic session 2018-19.
The NCERT has also enlarged its distribution network of vendors across the country. The details of such (895) vendors have been uploaded on the NCERT website for the convenience of the schools and parents. The NCERT has not received any reports regarding scarcity of textbooks from schools or students so far.
In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Friday, the Minister of State (HRD), Upendra Kushwaha stated that the NCERT has discussed the issue of publishing and providing textbooks with the CBSE for which the NCERT has launched a dedicated web portal (www.ncertbooks.ncert.gov.in) for supply of textbooks to schools and individuals. 3578 schools have placed their requirement of NCERT books on this portal.
Thirteen (13) States/Union Territories have taken copyright permission from for printing of NCERT Textbooks for their respective States/Union Territories. Ten (10) States /Union Territories are procuring the Textbooks directly from the . The Publication Division of NCERT is continuously monitoring the progress of availability of textbooks for the academic session 2018-19, added the minister.
In addition, NCERT textbooks can be downloaded, free of cost, from NCERT's website www.ncert.nic.in. has also made available all their textbooks for free access through the web (epathshala.nic.in) and mobile devices.
