Dhillon- Lehri -Rajay panel gains upper hand in Club elections

Bathinda, 16 April 2018: Gurprem Lehri of Dainik Jagarn has been declared elected as President of Bathinda Press Club on Monday as all three candidates for the president’s post withdraw their nomination papers. In the seven-member governing body elected for 2018-20, former president of the club Rajay Deep of Daily Post has been elected as the Senior Vice-President. Earlier, he was President of club.
Further, Sukhmeet Bhasin of The Tribune is the new Vice-President, Sukhwinder Singh Sukha of Ajit is General Secretary, Gurtej Singh Sidhu of Punjabi Jagran has been elected as Secretary, Ashwani Kumar Kaka of Dainik Bhaskar is the Joint Secretary and Vinod Kumar Bansal has been elected as the Cashier. Notably, Gurtej, Ashwani and Vinod have retained the same positions which they had served during the previous term of two years.
Following the club constitution, which is registered under the Society Act, the returning officer Swaran Singh Danewalia assisted by Amrit pal Singh Brar (Babushahi) and Ram Singh Gill conducted the election process during which 23 members had applied for different positions. After conducting the scrutiny, which was scheduled for Monday, the RO found 16 candidates eligible to contest for different posts.
The voting, as per the announced schedule, was slated for April 22; however, availing the constitutional opportunity nine members withdrew their nomination papers which paved way for the seven members to get unanimously elected.
The newly elected BPC governing team, after assuming the office in the presence of dozens of members, assured all to deliver their best for the betterment of the club.
