Nawanshahr, April 23, 2018: Taking a leap forward towards implementing the welfare schemes for benefitting poor and weaker sections successfully, state government has transferred online, an amount of Rs 2.97 crore under ‘Ashirwad’ (Shagun) Scheme, into the account of 1741 beneficiaries of the SBS Nagar district for the period of December 2016 to December 2017.
Giving the details, while reviewing the development and welfare programmes, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar said that the step was the part of the endeavour of the Punjab Government to facilitate the Ashirwaad Scheme beneficiaries as per its commitment.
He further told that out of these 1741 beneficiaries, 1133 of December 2016 to June 2017 had been given the benefit at the rate of Rs. 15000 per head while the rest 608 of the period July 2017 to December 2017 at the rate of Rs. 21000 per head. He said that beneficiaries of January, February and March would be covered under the scheme shortly.
Deputy Commissioner further said that as per the guidelines laid by the state, the daughters of the poor families belong to SC, BC and economically backward families meeting the income criteria set by the state would be facilitated with a shagun amount of Rs. 21000 each.
