Ferozepur, April 23, 2018: Bahujan Samaj Party –BSP workers held a protest in front of the District Administrative Complex – DAC – over the Phagwara shootout incident accusing the Centre government and RSS.
Later, a deputation led by State President, Rachhpal Singh Raju of BSP submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur.
Speaking to the media persons on this occasion, Rachhpal Singh Raju, Zone Incharge, Punjab Sukhdev Singh Sheera and District President Balwinder Singh Malwal said, the atrocities on dalits during the Modi government has virtually increased. With the anti-dalit decisions by the Modi government, the dalit community now wants to see the Maya Wati – BSP Supremo as Prime Minister.
They said, there will be a peaceful bandh on April 2 in Punjab in protest against the dilution of SC/ST Act. They also demanded the cancellation of false cases against the dalits in Punjab by the present government.
They said, on April 13, the banner of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar installed at the chowk was torn by some Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal, BJP and RSS workers and they were protesting peacefully when there was a firing injuring two youths who are now out of danger.
The BSP leaders demanded registration of a case against the various outfits involved in the crime, withdrawal of their arms licences and police security for themselves, who fired on dalits failing the agitation in the state will be intensified.
The BSP leaders also supported the death sentence bill passed by the government in rape cases.
