Fatehgarh Sahib, May 21, 2018: The district police claimed to have busted a ladies gang involved in snatchings and looting of gold ornaments particularly from ladies with the arrest of four members of the gang. The police recovered the gold ornament and alto car PB-19P-0625 from their possession. These ladies are already facing various cases of snatchings, lootings and under NDPS Act in various police stations of State.
Addressing the media persons here today Harpal Singh SP (Investigation) said that from the last many days the incidents of chain and other gold jewllery snatching from the ladies were reported. He said last days a group of three ladies forcibly boarded the three wheeler in which certain ladies of Sirhind were coming back after paying obeisance at Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib. These ladies looted one Kailash Rani Mother of a councilor of gold bangle and get down from the three wheeler at T point lights. Kailash Rani raised the alarm but they had disappeared. The matter was reported to police.
SP said police constituted a special committee headed by Dr. Ravjot Grewal IPS ASP Fatehgarh Sahib and DS Khakh DSP(D). The team searched the CCTV footage of showroom and got some lead. He said that police team led by CIA inspector Dalbir Singh laid the trap at the parking of Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib and succeeded in nabbing four ladies. They were identified as Dalip Kaur alias Deepo, Sukhwinder Kaur alias Rodi, Joginder Kaur alias Bachi residents of Sangrur and Surjeet Kaur alias Jeeto resident of Dhuri.
Narrating their modous operendi, he said that Surjeet Kaur alias Jeeto is kingpin of the gang and she is expert in taking off bangles, chains, rings and other gold jewelry by using some chemical. This gang always strike at crowded place, one of them will push the victim from behind other will support her and Jeeto will strike and they disappear one by one. They use a car and their driver keeps close watch on them and takes the car at particular point from where they disappear.
He said that these ladies gang will be presented in court and during police remand more cases of snatchings are likely to be detected.
