Fatehgarh Sahib, June 14, 2018: The district Red Cross Society in collaboration with Nishkam Sewa Samiti organized megha blood donation camp at civil hospital Fatehgarh Sahib to celebrate the World blood donation day under Tandarust Punjab mission. Kanwalpreet Brar Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the camp.
Addressing the gathering DC said that 14th June is celebrated all over the world as World Blood donation day to motivate the people to donate blood. She said blood donation is the supreme donation as every drop of blood saves a precious life, so we should not shed it rather donate it. She said there is always shortage of blood as it can not be manufactured rather it is collected through donation only.
Dr. Harminder Kaur Sodhi Civil Surgeon said that the Blood Bank in the civil hospital has the capacity to store 150 units of blood and there is no shortage as every month blood donation camps are organized to collect it.
Meanwhile Kanwalpreet Brar Deputy Commissioner also launched a campaign against adulteration under Tandrust Punjab mission today and directed the health department officials to take samples of eatable items daily without favouring anyone.
Addressing the meeting of the representatives of Milk vendors, sweet shop, Karyana and grocery etc. owners , DC warned them not to sell adulterated items as adulteration is a serious crime not only by law but it also amounts to disturb the nature, as the health of citizens depends upon the eatable items.
She said that under Tandrust Punjab mission health, diary, Co-operative and other departments will start awareness campaign for getting pure and healthy eatable items and to inform about adulterators. She said any citizen can give information about the adulteration items and his name will be kept secret and prompt action will be initiated
