Ferozepur, June 14, 2018: Taking a note of ignoring the regularization policy announced on April 20 by the Punjab government and acting against the mushrooming of illegal colonies, the GLADA – Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority – conducted a demolition drive and dismantled the colony which was at the initial stage of construction where works like road construction, four-walls, sewerage laying and street lights installation was being carried.
Honouring the orders, under the tutelage of Harpreet Singh Sekhon, Estate Officer (Regulatory), GLADA, a team of SDE Aditya Rattan, Jatinder Pal Sigh SDE and JE Shahshi Bhushal and JE Amarjit Singh started the dismantling drive of an unauthorized colony by using the JCB machines
.Added here that on June 14, two colonies on Ferozepur-Kachha Zira road, two unauthorized colonies were dismantled including roads, sewerage, electric poles etc. - with the help of JCB machines.
GLADA had issued instructions with regard to regularization policy 2018 from time to time but on getting on the response from the colonizers, the dismantling campaign has been started beside taking the legal action by registration of police cases.
Notably, under GLADA there are over 1000 unauthorised colonies and the department has now started taking action against the colonies which are mushrooming now.
GLADA authorities also made it clear that the new colonies would not be allowed to come up in the jurisdiction of GLADA and if required FIRs would be registered against the developers as well. An appeal to the general public against investing money in such colonies has also been made otherwise they would also have to bear the brunt as none of the residents will get electricity and telephone connections in these colonies.
