Govt Elementary School Jhans emerges as role model for govt schools

The Government Elementary School, village Jhans falling in District Hoshiarpur has emerged as the role model for the government schools of entire state. It is fully matching up to the stature of the convent schools.
This English medium school with its beautifully decorated classrooms, neat & tidy uniform of the students, clean and green campus, disciplined environment and other facilities, has become the preferred choice of the people of the region who love to admit their wards in the school. The credit for the overall transformed and beautified look goes to the teacher couple Mr. Narinder Arora and his better half Mrs. Manjit Kaur.
Appreciating the good work of the State Awardee Mr. Narinder Arora, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vipul Ujwal said that the other teachers must also emulate the fine example set up by the Jhans School and make strides in the educational sector. He also expressed hope that another novel project called ‘Samarpan’ would also be a milestone in the sphere of education.
The State Awardee teacher Mr. Narinder Arora said that at one point of time the Government Elementary School at village Jhans had only 17 students from Nursery to 5th standard but now with all the hardwork and toil he and his wife Mrs. Manjit Kaur (Teacher at Jhans school itself) had increased the student strength from 17 to 213 as students from nearby convent schools have preferred to study here. He also said that special classes are held for weak students every Sunday from 9 AM to 12 PM and 4 days a week.
Mr. Arora added that the students are also being taught from general knowledge books apart from those prescribed by the Punjab School Education Board. He also divulged that the school is also excelling in the academic field and besides this for the facilitation of students van, auto and bus services are available too.
Disclosing more, he said that the school also prepares the students for gaining admission into the Jawhar Navodaya Vidyalaya and other high profile institutions. He disclosed that 4 students of the school have also been selected in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
He further elaborated that the building of the school has been decorated with artwork that signifies knowledge which is entertaining as well as serving as knowledge booster for the students. He also said that he is in regular touch with the parents of the children to give them feedback on the status of their wards. He added that the students of the school are also carving out a niche for themselves and the school by excelling in Giddha, Bhangra and calligraphy competitions.
Mr. Arora also brought to the fore that the students of the school have managed to clear 12 rounds and have reached the grand finale of the ‘Kisme Kitna Hai Dum’ programme being telecast on DD Punjabi channel. One student is earning laurels for the institution as well as the Hoshiarpur District in the debating competition grand finale.
