Minister was in Fazilka to review the progress on mission Tandarust Punjab

Animal Husbandry and dairy development minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu today held series of meetings with the district authorities to take stock of various ongoing projects. While exhorting the officers to work with missionary zeal to execute the mission Tandarust Punjab, He said that it would become the foundation of sustainable development of the state.
The minister was here to review the progress on mission Tandarust Punjab and other various Government schemes. He said that under this flagship mission, The Health department would conduct free medical tests of all the citizens above 30 years of age.
He said that people needs to be sensitized about various welfare schemes been run by the state to enable them to reap full benefit of such schemes. He said that saplings would be planted over 181 acres of village common land in district Fazilka.
Similarly 880 Nadep compost pits would be constructed in the villages to get rid of the heaps of cattle dung. Likewise 100 ponds would be deepened by rural development department whereas 45 ponds have been identified to start fish farming to enhance the income of the panchayats.
The Animal Husbandry Minister also instructed the officers to ensure the compliance of the ban on the use of polythene bags in the district. He said that on june 30 muncipals councils of the district would be declared open defecation free.
He said that 50 acre of forest land has been freed from the encroachments. He said that the forest department this year would execute greener Punjab drive in the district during which 1.20 lakh saplings would be planted in the district. Plantation of atleast of one sapling has been mandatorily for every Government employee.
