Gian Chand Bansal spokesperson of the Swaraj Party in a written statement said “We fully support the stand taken by the state Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu against the encroachment and illegal construction on government land. His (Navjot) statement on this issue to the media clearly reflects his sincerity to law and commitments to the people of Punjab”. His tough stand has exposed the nexus of certain corrupt politicians and officials of corporation who are hell bent to thwart the honest efforts of the govt. To give a clean and transparent administration, common man should support Navjot Sidhu move to free the government land from big sharks added Gian Chand Bansal.
Senior citizen, Balwinder Singh Bhullar, member of Citizens for Development (CFD) took to task the MLAs whose names are figuring in news to oppose the drive against illegal buildings. Bhullar said “MLAs have no role to play in such situations. Their mandate is to frame legislations for the welfare of the people not to indulge in such acts and obstruct the good work being done by the government”. People have voted for the congress government in need for a impartial and transparent governance. They should respect feelings of the people, added Balwinder Singh Bhullar.
Harinder Pal Singh Sidhu, General Secretary of Punjab Farmers Federation said “The drive should continue, Punjab Government should not surrender and allow people to do violations and grab the land of Punjab”. It is mandate of the people, nobody should be spared, he said.
