With the efforts of Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA, Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh has sanctioned Rs.3 Crore for the Moti Ram Mehra memorial park being constructed by Punjab tourism and cultural department at adjoining to Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib on approximately 5 Acre of land. Though the project was started in 2016 by the SAD (B) BJP Govt. but it was lying abandoned due to lack of funds now as the CM has released the funds the work will restart and project will be completed shortly, said Nagra.
While talking to media persons here today MLA said that the managing committee of Baba Moti Ram Mehra takes up the issue of memorial and he made a representation to CM in this regard and paying tribute to great martyr, CM immediately directed the finance department and funds were released. He thanked the CM for respecting the sentiments of devotees.
MLA said besides this the State Govt. with the help of Union Govt. has decided to develop Fatehgarh Sahib as a religious heritage tourism center of the world and sanctioned Rs.20 Crore for this purpose, under which all the historical and heritage buildings situated in the district will be preserved, all the roads linking these historical places will be converted into four laining and ornamental trees will be planted for beautification.
Lashing out at Akalis, MLA said that Fatehgarh Sahib has always witness development during Congress rule, whereas SAD(B) Governments always neglected this historical district. Fatehgarh Sahib was given status of district by the then CM Beant Singh, District Administrative complex and hospital were constructed Capt. Amrinder constructed four memorial gates and now Bus Stand, sewerage, water supply and four laining of roads is being started.
