The district police claimed to have busted a gang of drug peddlers with the arrest of four peddlers including two Nigerians from Delhi and recovered 170 Gm heroine from their possession. They all were involved in the sale of synthetic drug in the area.
Addressing the media persons Alka Meena SSP said that during the awareness campaign against drug abuse, the in charge of Buga Kalan police post Baljinder Singh got a secret information about the peddlers and during naka the police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 100 Gm heroine from their possession as they were going to deliver the consignment. They were identified as Abdul Majid and Mohamad Ismail residents of Maler Kotla. She said that during interrogation they revealed that they used to bring heroine from Delhi and sell it in the area.
SSP said that DSP Amloh Manpreet Singh was assigned the job to nab other members of the gang, a police team led by DSP Manpreet Singh and SHO Amloh Kuljit Singh along with two arrested peddlers and police force conducted raid at a residence situated in street number 15 in Uttam Nagar Delhi. SSP said that two occupants tried to flee but after some chase two Nigerians identified as Ima and Inosat were arrested and 70 Gm heroine was recovered from them.
SSP said they were brought to Amloh and all the four were presented in court and four day police remand has been obtained. She said more source of drugs supply is likely to come out.
SSP said the synthetic drug is brought to Punjab for sale from Delhi and other States and Nigerian are the main source of supply. SSP said earlier also Amloh police had arrested one Nigerian for supplying heroine to peddlers.
She called upon the people to come forward with the information about drug peddlers and they will be taken to task.
