Ferozepur, July 2, 2018: With the bifurcation of Ferozepur district to form new districts, the court work has decreased too much and District Bar Association – DBA - had been demanding for the last five years to set up Labour Court and CBI Court in Ferozepur.
Seeing no progress so far, there is a great resentment among the advocates of the district.
Jasdeep Singh Kamboj President, DBA speaking on this occasion said, Ferozepur used to be one of the biggest districts of the state but the various governments from time to time, bifurcated it to form new districts like Moga, Muktsar, Faridkot, Fazilka and Muktsar, with vested interests. With the result the court work in Ferozepur has decreased manifold.
Kamboj said, initially the demand to set u the CBI special court and Labour Court was raised before Administrative Judge Justice Mahesh Grover in 2013 and ultimately it reaches to Chief Justice Punjab and Haryana High Court and Chief Secretary Punjab.
He further informed that a reference was made by the Home Secretary to the Labour Commissioner Punjab for setting up of Labour Court but after that there is no progress. Now the people from the adjoining districts – Moga, Faridkot, Muktsar – had to go to Bahtinda for labour court work and in case it is also established at Ferozepur itself, it will save lot of time and money.
President demanded from the Punjab government to immediate accept the demands of setting up Labour and CBI courts in Ferozepur immediately.
