Toronto, July 22, 2018 : Two AAP MLAs from Punjab, Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Amarjit Singh Sandoa, were sent back to India from Canada after landing at Ottawa airport there.
Earlier both were detained at the airport for questioning following complaint made to the Canadian immigration authorities by some detractors within AAP.
Actually, it was Sandoa who was detained for questioning as the complaint was made against him about some criminal cases pending in the court in Punjab.
It is learnt that both had declared the purpose of their visit to Canada as personal. But when questioned they said they were here for party related activities.
Though Sandhwan was cleared at the immigration check but he entered into arguments with the immigration authorities as Sandoa was held back.
As both failed to satisfy the authorities as they made contradictory statements before them. So, both were ordered to fly back to India from the airport itself.
It is also learnt that the relatives of one of the MLAs made an unsuccessful attempts to take help of two Punjabi MPs to facilitate their entry into the country.
Dr Balbir Singh, co-president AAP Punjab, when contacted, told babushahi.com that he did not know any such thing happening with both AAP MLAs. He read about this development only in media reports.
"Both MLAs were traveling to Canada on personal tour. They have not contacted any AAP office bearer so far," said Dr Balbir adding that he could comment only after getting in touch with them.
