Ferozepur August 16, 2018: The Indian tri-colour was seen hoisted upside down during Independence Day celebrations at Nagar Panchayat, Mamdot near Ferozepur.
It is very unfortunate that after 72 years of independence, the people of India are not aware of the correct position of the colours of the flag. In the picture, the Nagar Panchayat officials are seen saluting the national flag, the flag is seen with the green at top and saffron down.
“It was an inadvertent mistake in the rush of things. It was unfortunate," said Vikas Dhawan, Sanitary Inspector. However, on noticing, it was hoisted in the correct position, he added. A notice to the official who has committed this mistake has been issued a notice and after investigation, further action will be initiated accordingly.
Added here, the Indian tricolour was seen hoisted upside down during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo session on November 21, 2015, with Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe before bilateral talks on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit.
