Jalandhar, August 20, 2018 : In consonance with the announcement of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to extend relief worth Rs 10 crore from the state to flood-ravaged state of Kerala, the Jalandhar administration would airlift 1000 quintal of ready to eat food material from Adampur airbase today (August 20).
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, who monitored the entire exercise of packaging the ready to eat food material here today, said that one lakh packets of the food were being made in the district for distribution in the flood affected Kerala state. He said that each packet would have one big packet of biscuits along with two small biscuit packets, one packet of tea, one of sugar, one bottle of water and two packets of dry milk. Sharma said that the entire process of packaging this ready to eat food would be completed by today evening and the food would be airlifted on Monday from Adampur airbase.
The Deputy Commissioner said that to complete this gigantic exercise 1000 labourers have been deployed. Likewise, he said that 20 senior officers of the district administration led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Jitendra Jorwal were overseeing the arrangements for completing this exercise smoothly without any hassle. Sharma who reviewed the entire arrangements said that the district administration would ensure that maximum help could be given to the hapless victims of this tragedy.
The Deputy Commissioner said that natural calamity of floods which has struck the state of Kerala recently has been an incident of great destruction and misfortune for the inhabitants of the state. He said that the entire country especially the residents of Jalandhar would ensure all sort of help to the residents of Kerala in this hour of crisis. Sharma said that as the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already announced help to the state of Kerala, the Jalandhar district would ensure its maximum participation in this noble cause through the state government.
