Fatehgarh Sahib, August 20, 2018: Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 74th birth anniversary during separate functions held at Fatehgarh Sahib and Amloh town today.
Kaka Randip Singh MLA Amloh organized a function to pay tributes and he called upon the people and industrialists to come forward to donate generously for Kerla natural disaster affected brotheren. He said it will be real tribute to Rajiv Gandhi Ji, who taught us to maintain communal harmony and help each other without any caste or creed. He donated Rs. 21000/- for the Relief fund and other Congress leaders and workers followed. MLA said that he will make all out efforts to collect maximum amount to the tune of Rs.50 Lakh, which will be forwarded to AICC and send to Kerla through Rahul Gandhi. He called upon the other Congress workers, leaders and MLAs to follow.
Similarly Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon Deputy Commissioner paid rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi during a function organized at District Administrative Complex and administered oath to officers and staff of different departments to maintain peace, tranquility, communal harmony and not to indulge in casteism, religion, regionalism and language discrimination. He lauded vision of Rajiv Gandhi, who dreamt of modern India in 21st century and worked for it. He said it was only during the tenure of Rajiv Gandhi that computers, multinational companies and other big houses came to India and we entered into the world of Information technology.
Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA said that every Congress worker leader and even common man is paying tributes and remembering Rajiv Gandhi not only because he was Prime Minister of our country but because he had a vision and dreamt a modern india and he along with his mother Indira Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the cause of Nation and now Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are leading the Congress and serving the country. He highlighted the various achievements made by the country during the tenure of Rajiv Gandhi as Prime Minister. He had great love for the country and wanted that India must join the elite group of developed countries and worked in that direction. He said that every Congress men feel proud that Rajiv Gandhi served the party and now Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are following his footsteps.
