Evacuate two families and 42 live stock, set up 13 Relief Centres to combat apprehensive fury of floods

Following Red Alert due to the incessant rains in the state as well as the ongoing arrangements to combat the apprehensive fury of floods, the Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Bublani and the SSP, Deepak Hilori, today visited dhussi bandh along Satlej river to take stock of the sensitive sites. The revenue officers were directed to coordinate with the Drainage department to identify as well as starting immediate effective steps to plug the sensitive points at dhussi bandh.
Earlier, while presiding over the emergency meeting of the officials of police, drainage, rural development, revenue, health, animal husbandry, food and civil supplies, here today, the DC ordered to set up as many as 13 relief centres immediately. The Relief Centres have been set up at Aur, Wajidpur, Bharta Kalan, Rahon 1, Rahon 2, Jalwaha, Sekhupur Bag,Mujjafarpur in Nawanshahr sub division and at Govt. Elementarty School, Fatehpur, Beerh Kathgarh, GHS, Garlon Bet, Kangana and Mutton in Balachaur sub division in the district. The employees of the revenue, health, animal husbandry, food and civil supplies have been deputed at the Relief Centres.
Taking prompt action on the the report about sensitive points at dhussi bandh near Tajowal, Mandhala and Chak Illahi Bakh villages, brought into the notice by the Drainage Department, the Deputy Commissioner, directed the concerned officials to take immediate steps to strengthen the dhussi bandh.
He asked the officials of the different departments not to leave the station and be ready to combat any eventuality in the coming days. He asked all the concerned police and civil officials to keep a vigil on the dhussi bandh so that immediate remedial steps could be started to avert untoward incident.
Besides, the DC has asked the Naib Tehsildar and Assistant Labour Commissioner to take action to ensure adequate compensation for the father-son, who have died as the roof collapsed due to incessant rain at village Chuharpur. If it was not possible to provide compensation under the 'Employment Compensation Act-1923", then the case would be considered under State Disaster Response Fund, he added. He also asked the concerned officials to provide free treatment to the victims of roof collapsed at village Chuharpur and Karyam in the district.
