Chandigarh, October 11, 2018: Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration today organised a National Training Workshop on Creating a Sustainable Motivated Organization for Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officers here today. This 2-day event has been sponsored by the Ministry of Enviornments and Forests & Climate Change Govt. of India. Senior IFS Officers of the rank of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests from 12 States including Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, Kerala, Orrisa, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab are taking part in this Workshop of National importance.
In his inaugural address, Mr. KBS Sidhu, Special Chief Secretary-cum-Director General MGSIPA said that growth and sustainability of an organization in Government and Private Sector solely depends on the performance and contribution of employees and it is, therefore, imperative that they must be provided good leadership and able guidance to add value to the system for getting better output. He said that as a leader, the Head of the organization must bring new ideas and inculcate team spirit among the members which will certainly have key impact on the well being of an organization besides giving a new push to the programmes. Similarly motivation is the driving force to bring attitudinal change in the behaviour of employees and create a sense of belonging among them for the organization. He exhorted the officers to be Role Model and key motivator for the staff besides involving them in planning and important decision making processes. Such approach will help them in the attainment of societal and organizational goals.
Emphasising the need of constant interaction and involvement of social groups, media and other stakeholders by the leadership, Mr. KBS Sidhu said that such initiative will contribute in highlighting the role of organization and attracting acknowlegement and appreciation from the society at large. He said that it will be one of the major factors for bringing about sustainability and stability in productive performance of an organization.
Mrs. Raji P. Shrivastava, Principal Secretary to the Govt. of Punjab and Director MGSIPA in her welcome address said that this 2-day event will give the officers an important platform for sharing their knowledge and ideas & contribute in national development. She said that it will also help in building a strong team which is the main purpose of this workshop sponsored by Government of India.
Mr. Jitendra Sharma, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Department of Forest and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab in his address shared his thoughts on professional issues. He said that forestry is an important field of national development with tremendous social economic value. He said that despite various constraints, the forest cover in our country has grown well. He said that sincere efforts are being made in Punjab to bring maximum area under forests alongwith motivation to farmers for undertaking cultivation of high value plants to increase their income. He complemented MGSIPA for organising this workshop with participantion of senior Forest Officers from all over the Country. Dr. Sanjeev Chaddha, Professor & Head Management Development Centre, MGSIPA gave detailed introduction of the programme.
