'ART ATARI' GALLERY & THE GALLERY'S MAIDEN EXHIBITION 'MRIDANGAM' UNVEILED

Tricity's first professional Art gallery named 'Art Atari' has been unveiled at Sector 82 ,Airport Road ,Mohali. The gallery & an exhibition of 15 eminent and internationally renowned painters and sculptors of India , who are displaying their art works, were inaugurated by Mr. Vikas Pratap(IAS), Secretary, Tourism & Cultural Affairs , Punjab.
In a way the Exhibition which will be on till November 9, signaled the opening of the art gallery, which is set to be an ideal platform to showcase talent of not just painters & artists from different parts of the country, but also of the region. These artists will get a fillip with establishment of the art gallery. On the other hand art appreciators & lovers will get a chance of seeing & owning some of the best contemporary & varied works of art.
"Over decades, art has come to be possessed and flaunted by the rich and seemingly understood by only the 'elite club'. While the masses have been left with a sea of inferior, mass produced 'art' flowing into every corner of our country from other parts of the world. Little do we realise that this is crippling not only our Indian artists but our cultural tapestry, at large. Through Art Atari, we have made it our mission to take art into the homes of the masses and classes. We aim to make art accessible, discernible and affordable to all." Said Harvansh Dua, Director, Art Atari.
Meanwhile, the theme of the exhibition is ‘Mridangam’, where in prominent artists like Shobha Broota from Delhi, Gauri Vemula from Hyderabad,Kalicharan from Noida & Prabhakar Singh from Pune are displaying their Contemporary paintings, sculptures and installations at Art Attari. The other partcipating artists are Hem Raj,Jagdish Chander,Jagmohan Bangai ,Meena Deora, Punam Sharma,Renuka Sondhi Gulati,Sabia Khan,Sanjay Roy, Surinder Kaur,Uday Kumar Pandit & Vishal Bhatnagar. In all 21 paintings, 11 sculptures & 2 installations have been put up.
It is pertinent to mention here that the gallery will be roping in more than 50 artists, who will brainstorm and create original Indian artworks for the benefit of art lovers. These will then be displayed at the gallery. Art Atari has been envisioned as an innovative & artistic 'Nature Museum'. The idea & mission is to develop 'Art Atari' into a must-see world-class exhibitors' hub in India.

It is noteworthy that the Exhibition 'Mridangam' has been curated by a well known sculptor and painter Mrs Renuka Sondhi Gulati. The exhibition will remain open till 9th November 2018 between 11am to 7pm.
