Amritsar, October 12, 2018: Guru Nanak Dev University organized a workshop on Awareness Programme in association with NAAC here today in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan Auditorium of the University. This workshop was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University. The objective of this workshop was to make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance initiatives.
Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of Punjab Smt. Razia Sultana was the chief guest. Prof. V.S. Chouhan, Chairman, NAAC delivered the key note address. Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu gave presidential remarks. Sh. B.S. Pnmudiraj, Deputy Advisor, NAAC conducted the workshop. Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar welcomed the chief guest and others. Prof. Kamaljit Singh, Dean Academic Affairs presented vote of thanks. Dr. Renu Bhardwaj, Director IQAC gave details about the activities of the cell. , Dr (Mrs) K. Rama and Mrs. Pratibha Singh, Deputy Advisor, NAAC and Dr Mohit Tiwari Assistant Advisor NAAC were also present.
After lightening the lamp by Chief guest, Registrar welcomes the guests and other participants. The workshop started with an introduction about the workshop by Dr K. Rama Advisor, NAAC.
Prof. V.S Chauhan Chairman NAAC delivered the key note address. Prof. Chauhan highlighted the importance of accreditation for higher education institutions in the fast-changing globalised era. He appealed all non-accredited institutes to initiate the process of accreditation without delay.
The Chief Guest, Honorable Minister, Higher Education Mrs. Razia Sultana threw light on NAAC activities. The importance of higher education for uplifting the society is hard pressed by Minister. She said that all institutes should apply for NAAC Assessment to get better facilities and funds from Ministry.
Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu highlighted the various activities initiated at Guru Nanak Dev University for getting good ranks and visibility at the national and international scenario. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Kamaljit Singh, Dean Academic Affairs. A video on NAAC activities was also displayed.
Recently, NAAC has developed the RAF for taking cognizance of the changing trends in higher education and aligning with the reforms and rapidly transforming the general education system. The RAF has distinguished partnership with the stakeholders to capture data for quantitative assessment and process details for qualitative assessment. It is an effort to make the assessment and accreditation process more objective, transparent and stakeholder friendly. NAAC attempts to reach all the higher education institutes for accreditation.
The workshop ended with an open forum where NAAC experts committee interacted with the participants for their doubts and queries related to new accreditation system.
NAAC Bangalore in association with the Government of Punjab organized a one-day workshop with the aim at providing an insight on NAAC and the process of Revised Accreditation Framework (RAF) at Guru Nanak Dev University. The workshop was aimed to spread awareness about the Revised Accreditation Framework. More than 250 participants of different regions of Punjab participated in the workshop.
