Chandigarh, October 15, 2018: “It requires a nationwide campaign to help women who constitutes to be half of the total population of our country to get equal rights in the society” said Tanu, one of the contestants from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The Panjab University team won the final round of the Youth Parliament Debate competition during the 4th national literary festival at Chandigarh University Campus.
Panjab University emerged winner by defeating the team from Jamia MIlia Islama, New Delhi.
The two day National Literary festival, Abhivyakti 2018 concluded today with the winning teams awarded with cash prizes during a glittering ceremony. More than 3000 students from 262 universities and colleges took part in 16 categories of literary competitions which included poetry reciting, live debates, quiz, storytelling, word stroke and anchor hunt. Eminent authors, renowned poets and academicians took part in the National literary fest, Abhivyakti 2018 where they participated I panel discussions to apprise the youth about the importance of literature in building a successful professional.
Team comprising of Tanu Gupta and Simran Jeet Kaur won the Debate championship while Prashant from University of Jammu won poetry championship in Punjabi language. The poetry championship in Urdu was won by Mudaser Rashid from SKUAST , Jammu while the poetry championship in Hindi was won by Mukul Singh from Jamia Millia Islamia University. Shrijal from NIT kurukshetra won the anchor hunt competition while Aviral Dwivedi from LPU, Phagwara won the Elocution competition. The poetry championship was won by Harmeet from GSSDGS Khalsa college Patiala while the team comprising of Radhika, manish & Rinchan from Govt. degree college paloura won the group debate event. The team SCD Govt. college Ludhiana, Tejas & Amarjeet won the quiz competition `Quizophillic’.
Kavi Samelan with noted poets took part to mark the conclusion of the two day National Literature Festival, Abhivyakti 2018. Internationally acclaimed and Celebrated Urdu Poet, Dr. Rahat Indori, Janab Nawaz Deobandi and Dr. Kumud Bansal took part in the Kavi Samelan where they recited pieces from their award winning poems.
