Amritsar, October 19, 2018: A unauthorised de-addiction centre here today raided by the district administration whereupon 22 youth were rescued who were found there in illegal detention.
Acting on anonymous telephone call, Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, Kamaldeep Singh Sangha today asked the Police Commissioner to assist the District administration to get released youth were kept inside the unauthorised de-addiction Centre on the pretexts of treatment where they were getting maltreatment.
Sangha informed that during raid the owner of the unauthorised de-addiction centre Kawaljeet Singh managed to escape along with his team from the spot but found 22 young boys who were badly detained in two small unhygienic rooms of rented building at Partap Nangar locality.
SDM Rajesh Sharma who was with the raiding party said that all the rescued youth have been admitted to Swami Vivekanand de-addiction centre being run by Government Medical College Amritsar where all would be extended free of cost treatment and parents of all affected youth were informed.
Sharma informed that there was no availability of doctors in the unauthorised centre where youth were badly tortured and owner was minting money on the name of de-addiction centre. Owner was treating the patients with third degree method rather medication for de-addiction.
