Chandigarh October 22, 2018: Gatka Association of Punjab has decided to organise its 9th Punjab State Gatka Championship in December and competitions for men and women will be held separately in Ludhiana and Bathinda districts.
It was decided in the annual general meeting of Gatka Association Punjab in which office bearers of International Sikh Martial Art Academy (ISMAA) were are also present. This meeting was chaired by Chairman Gatka Association Harjeet Singh Grewal and President Avtar Singh Patiala in which district presidents of state Gatka Association and district coordinators of ISMAA were also present.
Giving details Grewal said district presidents have been asked to hold tournaments in their districts during the month of November so as the winning teams could take part in the state tourney. He further added that district associations would make online entries for the men and woman state championships from November 25 to 28.
President Avtar Singh informed that the participants would be presented with certificates and medals in both the events. He asked all the teams and Gatka Akharas to contact their district associations to take part in the district tournaments.
Among others present in the meeting included Patron Gatka Association Giani Ranjeet Singh Patiala, Senior Vice President Harbir Singh Guru Har Sahai, General Secretary Udhey Singh, Organising Secretary Talwinder Singh, Finance Secretary Baljeet Singh Saini, Joint Secretary Gurmeet Singh Rajpura, Pankaj Dhamija from Fazilka, Harkiranjeet Singh Fazilka, Kamalpal Singh Ferozepur, Chaterpal Singh Barnala, Harjeet Singh Gill Bathinda, Chinder Singh Bathinda, Jaskarn Singh Bathinda, Jagjit Singh Barnala and Yograj Singh SAS Nagar.
