Chandigarh, November 20, 2018: A brilliant hat-trick by Yuvraj Walmiki helped Mumbai XI prevail over Punjab and Sind Bank by 3-2 and earned full points in Group B of the Heros 55th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.
In another Group B outing Air India defeated CAG XI by 4-2 to become first team to qualify for semi-final. It was CAG to started their campaign with Air India on a promising note having taken a 2-0 lead at the end of 23rd minute. However, Air India reorganised their game and hit back and mounted relentless pressure to snatch a thrilling 4-2 verdict.
Ehtesham Khan put CAG XI ahead with a field goal in the 18th minute. Chandan Singh doubled the margin by converting a penalty stroke in the 23rd minute.
Down by two goals, Air India opened their account in 31st minute through Joga Singh who scored a field goal. Joga also scored his team's third and his second goal in the 58th minute.
In between Abharan Sudev restored parity for Air India with a field goal in the 41st minute. At the fag-end of the game Khushman Singh scored Air India's fourth goal with a penalty corner conversion in the 68th minute.
Raheel Mohd of Air India was declared the Man of the Match.
Displaying dazzling performance Yuvraj Walmiki performed a three-in-a-row as Mumbai XI downed Punjab and Sind Bank by 3-2. They teams were locked two-two at lemon break.
Yuvraj Walmiki struck his first goal in the 13th minute, second in the 25th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 38th minute to engineer Mumbai XI's hard-earned win. Prabhdeep Singh had given Punjab and Sind Bank the lead in the fifth minute with a field goal and Ashish Pal Singh doubled the margin in the 11th minute by scoring a field goal.
Yuvraj Walmiki of Mumbai XI was adjudged the Man of the Match.
