Officials of Boxing Federation of India giving details about the 2nd Junior National Boxing Championship 2018 at Chandigarh University
Chandigarh, December 11, 2018: Chandigarh University Gharuan in association with Boxing Federation of India would be hosting 2nd Junior National Boxing Championship 2018 (Men & Women) from 12th December to 18th December. While giving details about the championship, Nrupal Gharat, Event Coordinator, Boxing Federation of India, "The 2nd edition of Junior National Boxing Championship 2018 will see 33 teams participating in 13 weight categories which consists teams from 25 states, 5 Union Territories and 3 teams from services". The tournament would be inaugurated by Rana K.P Singh, Speaker, Punjab Assembly on 12th December at Chandigarh University campus.
More then 700 boxers of Under-21 would be taking part during the National Championship. Olympian and Arjun Awardee Capt Gopal N Devang, chairman of the national selection committee along with other members Rajendra Prasad, Manoj Pingle and V Devrajan would be taking part in the tournament which is considered to be breedind ground for the selection of boxers for the national camp.
While briefing about the format of the competitions Nrupal Gharat, Event Coordinator, BFI said, “The competition format for each category has been fixed to 3 rounds of 2 minutes each. There will be 1 minute rest amidst the rounds. The scoring system of International Boxing Association or AIBA (Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur) will be followed and the championship will be conducted as per AIBA’s Technical & Competition Rules.”.
