Chandigarh, December 14, 2018: The gifting of stuffed partridge, to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh by Punjab Local Bodies and Cultural Affairs Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has landed him in trouble.
Naresh Kadyan, Haryana based volunteer, animal lover and social activists have approached the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau – WCCB – for registration of FIR against Sidhu for violating Section 39 of the Act. While Sandeep Jain from Ludhiana has sought an investigation.
At the time of giving the stuffed partridge brought from Pakistan during his recent visit, the CM had specifically told Sidhu to check under the Act for keeping the bird.
But the gift has drawn Sidhu into a controversy as under the Act, the person in possession of the trophy has to disclose about it to the wildlife officials at the border.
Until any clarification by the Wildlife authorities as per the provisions of the Act, the issue will be a part of the news in the coming days.
