JALANDHAR, JANUARY 10,2019:- In another major strike against drug peddlers, the rural police on Thursday arrested a Mizoram based taxi driver in Kang Sabu village on Jalandhar- Barnala Highway.
The accused has been identified as Abraham Lalrinngheta of Khuangchera Section Ramhlun North, Near Presbyterian Church, Aizawl.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP), Mr Navjot Singh Mahal accompanied by DSP headquarters Mr BIS Kahlon told that Mr Harinder Singh, head of CIA staff-1 laid a special checking in Kang Sabu Adda along with Nakodar Sadar SHO Surjit Singh and started inspection of the vehicles.
Mr Mahal told that around 8 pm, one person boarded off from a private bus who was carrying a kit bag on his shoulders and moved towards Uggi village.
On suspicion, CIA head Mr Harinder Singh and police party stopped him for checking who revealed his identity Abraham and frisked his bag in the presence of DSP Nakodar Mr Parminder Singh and seized 3kg 70 gm heroin from the bag.
SSP told that Abraham was taken into the custody immediately and a case was registered against him under section 21 of NDPS Act.
He further revealed that the accused is a taxi driver in Aizawl and he came into the contact of woman Pachuau following which he started smuggling heroin.
The accused has brought the contraband from Delhi and was going to deliver the consignment here, he said and added that the rural police have so far recovered 5.155 kg in 2019.
SSP told that in most of the cases, the heroin was smuggled from Delhi to Punjab.
