Fatehgarh Sahib, January 17, 2019: With the death of a young lady Sarabjit Kaur resident of village Raton in Khamano sub division of the district due to swine flu last night in PGI, the death toll due to Swine flu in district has risen to four. Earlier Lakhbir Singh of Khamano, Des Raj working in courts at Fatehgarh Sahib, Rekha resident of Mandi Gobindgarh had succumbed to flu. The deaths have created terror among the residents.
As per the information available Sarabjit Kaur complained of high fever and cough, she was admitted to private hospital at Chamkaur Sahib on 7th January and referred to private hospital in Ropar on 8th January and after conducting tests, she was found positive for H1N1and taken to PGI, where on the intervening night of 16th and 17th January she succumbed to flu.
Meanwhile Subhash Sood, President District Congress Committee has urged the health authorities to take immediate remedial measures to boost the confidence of the residents and they may feel that Govt. has made all the arrangements to treat the disease.
When contacted N.K.Aggarwal Civil Surgeon, he said that district health department has intensified the awareness campaign and teams of the department are visiting the rural and urban areas to educate the people that if they have complain of fever and cough they should immediately rush to civil hospital for tests. He said special ward for swine flu patients have been set up. He said there is no need for panic.
