Chandigarh, January 18,2018: DGP Suresh Arora on Friday categorically denied having resigned as DGP but expressed his desire to be relieved after the expiry of his tenure on January 31, 2019 . It has been learnt that he has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh requesting to relieve him as and when new DGP is appointed.
DGP who has recently got an extension in his services till September 30, 2019 has written to relieve him as and when new DGP is appointed.
However it has been learnt that the state government has also prepared a panel having names of senior officials of Punjab who can now take over the charge as DGP. The details of this panel are likely to be sent to UPSC tomorrow.
