The State Govt. is committed to give better health facilities to the people and Capt. Amrinder led Govt. has initiated various steps in this regard, said Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA, while distributing financial aid to cancer patients here today.
He said that the district health department has distributed Rs.6.66 Crore to 670 cancer patients from the district for treatment from the Chief Minister Cancer Relief Fund. He said that cancer is a dreaded disease and the Govt. has great concern for its patients and it has empaneled various reputed private hospitals, where these patients can get treatment free of cost. He said Govt. gives financial aid of Rs. 1.5 Lakh to each cancer patient for treatment and the payment is made on-line to empaneled hospitals.
He said that besides cancer the treatment of Hepatitis-C is also done free of cost as the financial aid is given from CM Hepatitis-C Relief Fund. He said that 606 patients have taken the benefit of this scheme and 609 are getting treatment free of cost under this scheme.
Dr. N.K.Aggarwal Civil Surgeon said that the department initiates survey cum awareness campaign for the detection of Cancer patients in the early stage, so that they could be cured and provided relief. He said that the cancer patient can get the relief amount by submitting application in Civil Surgeon office.
