Jalandhar, January 19,2019 : ‘Neki Di Diwaar’ the unique initiative of the district administration to provide succor to the needy and underprivileged sections of the society get massive response from the people of all strata of society who were contributing generously to make this initiative a huge success.
Divulging the details Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that till now around 1112 beneficiaries have been distributed around 708 blankets, 694 jackets and cloths, 156 shoes, 42 toys besides water cooler, tri-cycles, wheel chairs and others within a fortnight of launching the scheme on January 2. He further said that around 162 donors till now have came forward for helping the poor and needy people. Mr. Sharma said that in order to extend help to the needy people at their doorsteps now the administration has decided to send a special distribution van to different areas for distributing cloths/blankets and jackets to the needy people and helping them fight this chilly cold.
Expressing gratitude to the people for showing overwhelming response to this project, the Deputy Commissioner said that this unique initiative has been successful due to the help of all the individuals. He said that recently Mr. DK Umesh on the behalf of owner of Haveli group Mr. Satish Jain has donated around 450 jackets for this noble cause. Mr. Sharma said that more such helping was pouring in from a number of philanthropists.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the wall has been constructed with aim to generously donate for helping the poor and needy people. Exhorting the people to donate at this wall from where any needy person could collect it as per their requirement, he said that the single aim was to ensure that the underprivileged sections of society could be helped during the winter season. Mr. Sharma said that during the cold weather disadvantaged sections of society require shoes, clothes, blankets’ and other things to prevent them for wrath of season adding that a large number of philanthropists do want to donate the things but they do not find adequate platform where the things could actually reach the needy people.He said that this wall has been set up to provide a genuine platform where donations of people could go in right hands
