Ferozepur, March 20, 2019: With the Model Code of Conduct coming into force, several measures are being put in place to ensure it is not violated at any level. In this context, a joint meeting of District Administration and Police Department was held on Wednesday at District administrative Complex to ensure free, fair and transparent ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting was headed by District Election Officer (DEO) cum Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind and Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Goyal.
DEO Gaind informed the officials that the meeting was arranged to make better coordination between the officials, who are doing election duties. As the Model Code of Conduct had already come into effect, Police and civil Administration has to work in full coordination to implement the model code of conduct in its letter and spirit, he added.
He further said that all the officials must dispose of election-related complaints in a time-bound manner. If any complaint remains pending beyond the stipulated period, the action would be taken against the concerned official", the Deputy Commissioner stated.
He also directed the Assistant Returning Officers of various constituencies to complete their works related to Form No 6, 7, 8 and 8(O) timely.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Goyal said that the Police Department was keeping the tab on anti-social elements. No one would be allowed to disturb law and order during the whole election process, he said.
Goyal also asserted that the department was working round the clock to nab all Proclaimed Offenders belonging to the district. Our teams were already working in the fields with the surveillance teams and flying squads formed by District Administration, he added.
He said that the department is committed to get the election process completed peacefully.
On this occasion, Sub-divisional magistrate Amit Gupta, and Assistant Commissioner Ranjeet Singh were present along with other officers.
