Punjab Haryana top officials meet at Khanouri

To ensure fair and peaceful Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled to be held on May 19, Punjab and Haryana top administration and police officials held a joint meeting in a rest house at Khanauri, Sangrur. In this meeting official of six border districts took active part and deliberated upon the strategies to prevent any anti social element or criminal from creating hurdle in the free and fair elections process.
While revealing about the meeting, district election officer cum Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Ghanshyam Thori said that from Punjab, police and administration officials of Sangrur, Mansa and Patiala took part in the meeting while from Haryana, officials from the districts Kaithal, Jind and Fatehabad were presents.
Officials who were present in the meeting were DCs, SSPs, SDMs and DSPs of the concerned districts and they all prepared a detailed strategy to not let anyone to violate the Model Code of Conduct during the election period and to implement the directions of Election Commission of India in latter and spirit.
Deputy Commissioner Thori said that a well proof planning, to prevent the distribution of drugs, liquor and a cash to woo the voters by any political part, has been made for the purpose.
Deliberations were also held on the issue of installing high security nakas at link roads and main highways connecting Punjab and Haryana so that no criminal minded people transport any objectionable things which are against the Election Commission guidelines, DC Thori said adding that officials of both Haryana and Punjab will remain well connected through the various communication channels to share valuable information during the election period.
Deputy Commissioner Thori also revealed that a list of Proclaimed Offenders and fugitives escaping police arrest from long time has also been submitted to the Haryana officials so that they could also keep tab over such elements during election period to prevent them (POs) from creating any law and order problem during elections.
Interestingly, officials of both Punjab and Haryana also shared their experiences of conducting elections in the past and also exchanged views over the more steps needed to conduct free and fair polls.
Thori further revealed that with the creation of joint WhatsApp groups of police and district administration, would also help immediate action on the unwanted elements during the elections.
Notably a special team was also formed to implement the entire planning and to give practical shape to the deliberations between the officials of both the states.
On this occasion, officials who took part in the joint meeting are SSP Sangrur Sandeep Garg, District Elections Officer Patiala Kumar Amit, SSP Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana, DC Jind Aditya S, DC Fatehabad Dhirendra Khargata, SP Vijay Partap Singh, Assistant Commissioner Sangrur Ankur Mahindru, SDM Moonak, Suba Singh, SDM Patran Sukh Amrit Singh, DSP Jind Kaptan Singh etc .
