Ferozepur March 23, 2019: Civil and Police administration are working in tandem for conduct of Lok Sabha polls in a free, fair and transparent manner, said DC Chander Gaind and SSP Sandeep Goel Ferozepur in a joint press conference held on Friday evening.
Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, while the civil administration has geared up the machinery for the safe conduct of elections, the police have intensified vigil against smuggling of drugs, checking of vehicles, unaccounted money, liquor etc.
Chander Gain said since the Election Commission is very serious, all the teams concerned with the election process are working in their respective fields for the safe conduct of the coming polls after the model code of conduct in force on March 10.
Sharing the success stories of the police, SSP Sandeep Goel informed that one drug purchaser identified as Gurdev Singh was arrested with drug money of Rs.3 lac and 100 gm heroin, while the drug seller identified as Harjinder Singh of Zira, managed to escape. He said, Harjinder Singh will also be nabbed shortly.
SSP said, there had been valuable feedback which has brought good results. Special campaigns are part of the various operations. I can’t divulge with more details but they are result oriented. I take the recovery of even small quantity of 100 gm heroin as more important not in terms of its value but saving the youth by its reaching to them.
He further said the Innova vehicles stolen at gun point have also been recovered – PB29R3849 from Makhu with the arrest of one accused with pistol while his accomplice will also be nabbed shortly.
Another Alto vehicle PB30Q3573 stolen after putting chilly in the eyes has also been recovered along with Kamal Molhotra and Pooja Malhotra – both husband and wife while two more co-accused will also be arrested. However, the investigations are on, to ascertain their links and back history but it is too early to comment more at this stage as it will hamper the investigation operations.
SSP sharing another achievement said, one Nitian Kumar of Shanti Nagar during the naka has also been arrested with one weapon and Rs.90,000 cash, in violation of Section 188 - Disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant - while his associate Harpreet Singh alias Happy will also be arrested shortly.
SSP said, the special campaign against the drug and crime is going on and there is always a cope of improvement as is evident from the fact the crime has definitely been controlled that there had been not even a single FIR on Holi day against 20-25 FIRs as per the past history of the district.
