Chandigarh, March 24, 2019: Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday issued orders allotting reserve poll symbols to various political parties including Revolutionary Socialist party and Janata Dal United.
Disclosing this here today, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Mr. S. Karuna Raju stated that these reserve poll symbols had been issued by ECI in accordance with paragraph 10 of Election Symbol (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968. These orders had been issued based on the requests made to the ECI by various political parties. These political parties would be able to use these symbols during the ensuing General Elections 2019.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Mr. S. Karuna Raju further said that as per these orders, the Revolutionist Socialist Party had been given the reserve symbol of 'Spade and Stoker' for their candidates in the state for Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha Constituency (8) besides LS Patiala Constituency (13).
He also said that Janata Dal (United) had been issued 'Arrow' for their candidate who would be contesting form the Sangrur LS (12) Constituency. In addition to this, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab had been allotted the 'Broom' as the reserve symbol for its candidates who would be fighting the LS Polls from the state.
