Congress-AAP continue efforts for alliance as Sanjay Singh meets P C Chacko
New Delhi, 5 April : Efforts to reach an alliance between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi are still continuing with AICC incharge for Delhi P C Chacko holding talks with Aam Aadmi party leader Sanjay Singh in Delhi over the past two days .
Sources said that the AAP has proposed to give two seats to Congress in Delhi while Congress has demanded three seats--New Delhi, Chandni Chowk and North East Delhi.
Sources said that the Congress has also offered two seats to AAP in Haryana for the Lok Sabha elections.
The development comes after Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit, addressing mediapersons on Thursday, said there are still no talks on alliance with the AAP.
"Rest assured we will remain as we are," Ms Dikshit said on possibility of the Congress's alliance with the AAP for the Lok Sabha polls.
Efforts have been going on between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi party to arrive at a seat sharing arrangement for the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. Those in favour of the alliance say that fighting Lok Sabha polls in Delhi independently could be advantageous for the BJP, which at present holds all seven Lok Sabha seats.(Agency)
