Punjab-Himachal Interstate coordination meeting held at Hoshiarpur
Civil and police administrations review arrangements for ensuring model code of conduct

An interstate coordination meeting of the civil and police administrations of 4 districts of Punjab and Himachal was held at local Services Club this evening to ensure free and fair parliamentary elections. In this meeting, preventive measures against inter district and interstate flow of illegal liquor, arms and drugs, cash etc. and movement of anti-social elements were discussed and it was decided to coordinate sharing the related information and intelligence inputs intelligence besides conducting joint check points and checking drives in border areas.
The deputy commissioners, civil and police officers of all the 4 districts were present in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia said that coordination among the 4 districts was a must to ensure smooth functioning to ensure the free and fair Lok Sabha elections and for it the officials of all the 4 districts to work consciously and responsibly keeping in mind the model code of conduct.
Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Deputy Commissioner Una Rakesh Prajapati, SSP Hoshiarpur J. Elanchezhian, Superintendent of Police Una Diwakar Sharma, ADM. Kangra M.R. Bhardwaj, civil and police officers of Hoshiarpur, Una, Kangra and Roopnagar were also present in this meeting.
In this meeting, the police officers of all the 4 districts agreed upon holding regular meetings of the SHOs of border areas for local issues, to lay joint Check points. it was also decided to conduct joint raids and patrolling in the areas under police stations of border areas.
It was also decided to share the intelligence inputs regarding illegal movement of suspected persons and illicit liquor. The coordination between SST/Flying squad teams and law enforcement agencies of border areas and preventive measures to check bogus voting were also discussed in order to follow model code of conduct during elections were also discussed.
