Ludhiana, April 07, 2019: The District Administration in association with NGOs is organising several functions for making people aware about voting rights. As part of this, a function was organised at Pavilion Mall, here, where District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal was the Chief Guest.
Volunteers of NGO Initiators of Change, with the support of students from Bajaj College, made the people aware about getting registered as voters, voting, right to vote, etc by organising a Nukkad Natak. The residents were not only made aware about the election process, but even a quiz competition was also organised, and the winners of this competition were awarded with tree saplings.
All those present on the occasion pledged to get registered as voters and exercising their right to vote in a free and fair manner. Mr Agrawal also inaugurated a special signature campaign regarding voter awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, Agrawal stated that India is the biggest democracy of the world, where every person has equal right to vote. He said that sadly some people do not cast their vote during elections or cast their vote under influence. He appealed to the residents exercise their right to vote in a free and fair manner on May 19, 2019, besides should motivate others in this regard as well.
He said that such awareness functions would continue and would be organised in all parts of the Ludhiana district.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included ADC Jagraon Neeru Katyal Gupta, Assistant Returning Officer Sonam Chaudhary, District Public Relations Officer Prabhdeep Singh Nathowal, Gauravdeep Singh, besides several others.
