Jalandhar, April 18, 2019: The deputy commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday directed the officials to visit the wheat field to assess the loss to the crop due to recent inclement weather on April 16-17.
Sharma said that the move was aimed at assessing the loss to wheat crop due to rain coupled with strong winds and hailstorm in the last two days. He said that all SDMs and revenue officials will carry out their inspections to the fields even on holidays. He said that they have been asked to prepare the affected village on the map for accurate reporting of damage to crop faced by the farmers.
Sharma told the officials have been asked to closely monitor the situation and ensure timely reportage of the damage. The deputy commissioner said that the wheat was sown on around 1.69 lakh hectares area in the district.
